Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in multi-cloud platforms, network security, microservices, API architecture, and enterprise modernization.
This role requires ownership of cloud platform strategy, secure architecture design, scalability planning, cost optimization, code governance, security assessments, and incident response leadership.

The ideal candidate must be Chicago-local, able to attend in-person interviews, and willing to go through onsite client technical evaluation.

Must-Have Technical & Functional Skills

Multi-Cloud Platform Expertise

• Hands-on proficiency in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and GCP

• Cloud-native architecture, deployments, workload design, and platform governance

• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-based authorization platforms

Networking & Cybersecurity

• Strong knowledge of network architecture, enterprise security, and cybersecurity best practices

• Identity & Access Management (IAM), OAuth, SAML, RBAC, and enterprise authentication

• Deep understanding of data security, encryption, and OWASP security principles

• Architecture for HA/DR (High Availability & Disaster Recovery)

Backend & System Architecture

• Experience designing and delivering scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-optimized systems

• Strong expertise in architecture patterns and implementation techniques

• API design and enterprise service definition

• REST, GraphQL, JSON, XML data modeling for enterprise services

Programming & System Engineering

• Expertise in Java, Python, or C

• Ability to review architecture feasibility from a developer’s perspective

• Understanding of framework ecosystems (Spring Boot, Node.js, or equivalent cloud-native frameworks)

DevOps & Code Governance

• Experience with code reviews, security assessments, incident response, and production risk evaluation

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and enterprise code governance

• Ability to partner with development teams to ensure architectural alignment

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own end-to-end enterprise cloud solution architecture

• Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud-native platforms

• Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, and security validation

• Conduct security assessments and drive penetration-test readiness

• Drive incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive architecture improvements

• Collaborate with product owners, security, networking, infrastructure, and engineering teams

• Translate business challenges into technically achievable enterprise designs

• Balance short-term business needs with long-term system modernization strategy

• Ensure delivery adherence to enterprise security, scalability, reliability, and architectural standards

• Act as a value-adding, independent, proactive leader across transformation phases

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Kafka streaming, Kubernetes, or backend orchestration on cloud

• Experience in BFSI, Retail, or high-compliance enterprise modernization

• Monitoring/logging/observability exposure (Splunk, Kibana, Prometheus, etc.)
