Title: Java Technical Architect

Location: NJ or Delaware (Hybrid)

 

Role Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Java Technical Architect to lead the design, modernization, and implementation of large-scale, high-volume settlement systems supporting both international and domestic financial operations. This role requires deep expertise in Java, Microservices architecture, middleware, databases, cloud platforms, and DevOps, along with strong domain knowledge of trade and settlement life cycles across multiple financial products. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader, architect, and mentor, driving innovation while ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead feasibility studies and provide detailed time, cost, and risk estimates for settlement system modernization initiatives.
• Define and execute IT architecture and modernization strategies aligned with business and regulatory objectives.
• Design, architect, and implement high-performance, real-time, large-volume applications using Java and Microservices.
• Oversee all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Analyze complex settlement workflows and resolve technical and functional issues using advanced Java and Microservices expertise.
• Architect solutions supporting the trade and settlement life cycle, including positions, collateral, and margin management for equities, fixed income, futures, and options.
• Integrate applications with SWIFT networks, message feeds, and middleware platforms.
• Recommend and implement security controls, ensuring data integrity and secure transaction processing across domestic and international systems.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, coding standards, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with business users, clients, and cross-functional technology teams to deliver robust settlement solutions.
• Provide post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement recommendations.
• Mentor junior architects, developers, and analysts, fostering technical excellence and best practices.
• Exercise independent judgment, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for senior stakeholders.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technology and operational risks while ensuring regulatory and policy compliance.
• Promote transparency by managing escalations, reporting control issues, and maintaining ethical standards.

 

Must-Have Technical & Functional Skills:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in Core Java, Server-Side Java, Java concurrency, multithreading, and thread-safe design.
• Strong expertise in Microservices architecture using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud Config, Spring Data, Spring JMS, Spring JDBC, and Spring Security.
• Extensive experience with transaction management and JTA-based applications.
• Proficient in MVC patterns, RESTful services, and API design (Swagger/OpenAPI).
• 10+ years of experience using JMS with TIBCO EMS, IBM MQ, and messaging-based integrations.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong integration experience with SWIFT networks and financial message feeds.
• 10+ years of experience in Oracle RDBMS design and development.
• Strong expertise in SQL, stored procedures, packages, and functions.
• Experience migrating Oracle RDBMS to cloud platforms (ECS) and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
• Expert-level knowledge of relational and non-relational data models.
• Hands-on experience deploying applications on AWS, GCP, PCF, or similar cloud platforms.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
• Strong DevOps experience with Jenkins, Bamboo, UrbanCode, and build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
• Proficiency with code versioning tools: GitHub, Bitbucket, Subversion, Perforce.
• Experience with AppDynamics or similar monitoring tools.
• Hands-on exposure to Shell scripting and Unix/Linux/Windows system administration.
• 10+ years of experience with Java front-end frameworks and UI technologies such as Angular, React.js, jQuery, and JavaScript.
• Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing practices.
