Title: Network / Load Balancer Engineer – F5 LTM & GTM
Location: Atlanta, GA
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced F5 Load Balancer Engineer to configure, manage, and support enterprise-grade load balancing solutions using F5 LTM and GTM. The role involves day-to-day administration, incident management, security patching, and coordination with vendors to ensure high availability, performance, and security of application delivery services across data centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, manage, and administer F5 LTM & GTM environments.
- Provision and manage Virtual IPs (VIPs) and select appropriate load-balancing methods based on application requirements.
- Configure and maintain GTM Wide IPs (WIPs) across multiple data centers.
- Modify, delete, and manage pool members, health monitors, NAT rules, and iRules.
- Provision, validate, and manage DNS entries for VIPs and WIPs.
- Perform periodic SSL certificate renewals on F5 load balancers.
- Triage, analyze, and resolve incidents related to F5 load balancers and hosted server environments.
- Perform deep-dive analysis of recurring issues and provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Analyze and validate newly recommended firmware versions through bug scrub analysis.
- Provide support during high-priority incidents and production outages.
- Assist field engineers with new environment setup and configuration.
- Mitigate vulnerabilities through periodic firmware upgrades and hotfix patching.
- Ensure load balancer configurations comply with enterprise security standards.
- Maintain system stability, performance, and high availability.
- Manage and maintain support contracts with F5 and related vendors.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware part replacement and critical issue resolution.
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, and network teams to support business needs.
Required Technical & Functional Skills:
- 6–8+ years of hands-on experience with F5 Load Balancer (LTM & GTM).
- Strong experience configuring:
- VIPs, pools, pool members
- Health monitors
- NAT rules
- iRules (basic scripting)
- GTM Wide IPs
- Strong understanding of network protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS.
- Experience managing SSL certificates on F5 appliances.
- Familiarity with WAN/LAN environments and firewall concepts.
- Experience performing firmware upgrades, hotfix deployments, and vulnerability remediation.
- Ability to analyze logs, troubleshoot complex issues, and perform RCA.
- Basic scripting knowledge, especially F5 iRules.
