Location: Las Vegas, NV — 100% Onsite (Local to Vegas Only)
Duration: 12+ Months

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Automation QA Engineer / API Testing Lead with strong expertise in API automation and banking domain testing, specifically credit card applications. The ideal candidate will ensure high-quality software delivery through robust automation frameworks, comprehensive API testing, and close collaboration with business and technology teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & API Testing

·         Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for backend APIs and integration layers

·         Perform API testing using Postman, REST Assured, and Swagger/OpenAPI

·         Validate REST APIs using HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE)

·         Implement automated tests for functional, regression, integration, and performance validation

·         Review API contracts and specifications to ensure alignment with implementation

Functional & UAT Testing

·         Perform and oversee testing types including:

o    Functional testing

o    Regression testing

o    Integration testing

o    User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

o    Mobile, compatibility, ADA testing (as applicable)

·         Execute and review test cases and report defects using JIRA

·         Provide release demos to business stakeholders

CI/CD & Collaboration

·         Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Jenkins

·         Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and QA teams to ensure full test coverage

·         Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and QA process improvements

·         Mentor junior QA engineers and promote QA best practices

Data Validation & Troubleshooting

·         Use SQL / PostgreSQL to validate backend data and ensure data integrity

·         Troubleshoot automation scripts and assist in debugging complex issues

Required Technical Skills

API Automation

·         Hands-on experience with Postman, REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI

·         Strong knowledge of JSON, XML, HTTP methods, and status codes

·         Experience building and maintaining API automation frameworks

Test Frameworks & Tools

·         Experience with TestNG or JUnit

·         Proficiency with Maven or Gradle

CI/CD & Version Control

·         Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, and Git

·         Understanding of API Gateway integrations and deployment workflows

Programming

·         Proficiency in Java (preferred) or equivalent language for automation scripting

Generic QA & Soft Skills

·         Strong understanding of SDLC / STLC and QA best practices

·         Experience working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environments

·         Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

·         Passion for automation, quality, and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

·         Exposure to performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter)

·         Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes

·         Experience testing microservices and distributed systems
