Role: Cloud Migration Engineer - Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

Location: 100% Remote

Visa: USC/GC Only

 

Description:

• Supporting the State of Montana
• Client is moving from AWS to OCI
• Need someone who has led a migration from AWS to OCI
• Client is seeking a Cloud Engineer to lead and execute the end-to-end migration of applications, data, and infrastructure from AWS to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess current AWS architecture and design a target-state OCI architecture aligned with performance, security, and compliance requirements
• Migrate compute, storage, networking, and database workloads, including refactoring where necessary
• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or OCI Resource Manager
• Ensure data integrity, system availability, and disaster recovery throughout the migration process
• Collaborate with application teams to support testing, validation, and cutover activities
• Apply security best practices, including IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and logging
• Monitor system performance and optimize post-migration workloads in OCI
• Document architecture, migration steps, and operational procedures for long-term state use
• Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to Montana state IT staff

 

Required Qualifications:-

• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or Cloud Infrastructure Specialist
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM etc.)
• Demonstrated experience migrating workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, security architecture, and identity management
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)/Terraform strongly preferred
• Familiarity with database migration strategies and tools
• Experience supporting mission-critical or public sector systems
• Strong documentation and communication skills

 

Nice to have:-

• OCI certification (Associate or Professional)
• Experience working with state or local government systems
• Knowledge of regulatory, legal, or records-based systems
• Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments
• Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., CJIS, NIST, FedRAMP concepts)
