Required Skills and Qualifications

Education

Experience

Role Overview

The Jira Cloud Administrator Contractor will play a critical role in supporting client’s enterprise Agile tooling ecosystem. This position focuses on configuring, optimizing, and governing Jira Cloud environments to support Agile teams across technology, product, and business functions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Jira expert with strong experience in enterprise-scale administration, security, and complex workflow design within regulated environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and configure Jira Cloud (Software and Service Management) and Confluence Cloud across multiple lines of business.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, and Software Engineers to design Jira structures aligned with SAFe and enterprise Agile standards.
  • Design, implement, and maintain custom workflows, screens, schemes, fields, filters, and dashboards to enable effective portfolio-, program-, and team-level tracking.
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions using Atlassian Access and SSO integrations with Amex identity platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automation rules and integrations with tools such as Slack, GitHub, and ServiceNow.
  • Ensure Jira and Confluence configurations comply with enterprise security, governance, and audit standards.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and troubleshooting for Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud users.
  • Create and maintain documentation, training materials, and best practices to promote consistent and effective usage across business units.
  • Participate in Atlassian Cloud upgrades, testing, and change management in collaboration with Enterprise Technology teams.
  • Support adoption and enablement of Atlassian Rovo AI capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator, including hands-on Jira Cloud experience, in a large enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe frameworks.
  • Proficiency in JQL, workflow automation, and Jira project configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian Cloud administration, including user management, permission schemes, and global settings.
  • Experience supporting large user populations (5,000+ users preferred).
  • Excellent stakeholder communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in governed or regulated environments such as financial services, banking, or fintech.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Atlassian certifications, such as ACP-120 (Jira Administration for Cloud) or ACP-620 (Managing Jira Projects in Cloud).
  • Experience with ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, and Jira Service Management.
  • Exposure to data analytics and reporting integrations (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Working knowledge of Atlassian REST APIs or scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with Change Management, Identity and Access Management (IIQ), and enterprise security compliance practices.
