Title: IBM Sterling Commerce OMS Solution Architect
Location: Atlanta, GA
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced IBM Sterling Commerce OMS Solution Architect to lead end-to-end architecture, implementation, and governance of enterprise Order Management solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in IBM Sterling OMS (including containerized/cloud versions) and a proven track record of delivering large-scale B2B and B2C implementations for retail and omnichannel environments.
This role requires strong technical leadership, solution design expertise, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on customization experience across IBM OMS modules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define end-to-end OMS architecture leveraging IBM Sterling OMS modules including:
- Distributed Order Management (DOM)
- SIP
- Logistics Management
- Supplier Collaboration
- Reverse Logistics
- Conduct architecture assessments aligned with enterprise to-be state architecture.
- Design integration strategies with ERP, WMS, CRM, eCommerce, payment gateways, tax systems, and logistics platforms.
- Prepare and review High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents.
- Lead technical design reviews and ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Lead implementation and customization of:
- OMS pipelines
- Participant models
- Inventory management
- Order routing
- Payment processing
- Drive integration with third-party and internal systems (ERP, CRM, Tax, Logistics, etc.).
- Oversee system scalability, performance tuning, compliance, and security controls.
- Establish and govern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for OMS deployments.
- Mentor and lead OMS development teams across onsite-offshore delivery models.
- Provide architectural and technical guidance to BAs, developers, and QA teams.
- Champion Agile methodologies and operational excellence.
- Conduct technical workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and IT teams.
- Present solution approaches, fit-gap analysis, and roadmap strategies to senior leadership.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead full implementation lifecycle including:
- Detailed design
- Development
- Testing & UAT
- Production deployment
- Post-production support
- Track IBM OMS product roadmap and manage upgrades.
- Coordinate with IBM on product defects and align fixes with release schedules.
- Manage risks and mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of IT experience with 10+ years in IBM OMS architecture and implementation.
- Proven experience delivering multiple IBM OMS implementations for large retailers.
- Deep expertise in:
- DOM, Pricing, Inventory
- Call Center, Store, Supplier Collaboration modules
- NextGen OMoC 2.0
- NextGen Call Center & Store Order Management customization
Expertise in:
- Java
- Angular
- XML, XSLT
- REST/SOAP Web Services
- Microservices Architecture
- Strong experience in B2B and B2C implementations.
- Sales Orders
- Purchase & Transfer Orders
- Order lifecycle & inventory management
- Invoice & payment processing
- Tax integration & reverse logistics
- Strong understanding of IBM OMS product capabilities and limitations.
- Experience working in Agile environments and leading cross-functional teams.
