Title: Mainframe Database Administrator (DB2 / IMS / ADABAS)

Location: Atlanta, GA

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Database Administrator with strong expertise in DB2, IMS, and ADABAS on z/OS platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, replication, backup and recovery, and ensuring high availability of enterprise database systems. The role requires deep knowledge of mainframe database technologies and strong troubleshooting capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain DB2, IMS DBDC, and ADABAS databases on z/OS mainframe environments.
• Perform database installation, configuration, and upgrades.
• Monitor and optimize database performance including indexing and partitioning strategies.
• Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Configure and support database replication using IBM replication tools.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database objects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and availability issues.
• Work with development and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability.
• Maintain database security and compliance standards.
• Support change management and incident resolution processes.
• Provide on-call support for database-related issues.

 

Required Skills:

• 8+ years of experience in mainframe database administration.
• Strong experience with:
• DB2 on z/OS
• IMS DBDC
• ADABAS
• Experience with replication tools such as IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR).
• Strong knowledge of:
• SQL
• DB2 Partitioning
• Indexing
• Data Sharing
• Performance Tuning
• Experience with Job Control Language (JCL).
• Knowledge of z/OS mainframe concepts.
• Experience with backup and recovery strategies.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of database security best practices.

 

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition (zCEE).
• Experience with IBM InfoSphere DataStage.
• Knowledge of service level management and change management.
• Experience working with vendors and software upgrades.
• Familiarity with enterprise database environments.

 

Certifications (Preferred):

• IBM DB2 Certification or equivalent database certifications.
