Job Title: Senior Tomcat Engineer / Middleware Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tomcat Engineer with strong expertise in Apache Tomcat administration, middleware support, and Linux environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, configuring, deploying, and supporting Tomcat environments in enterprise production systems. This role requires hands-on experience with Tomcat deployments on Red Hat OpenShift, performance tuning, automation, and infrastructure integration.
The candidate should have strong troubleshooting skills, experience in production support, and the ability to work in rotational shifts including night support.
Key Responsibilities
Tomcat Administration & Support
- Install, configure, and maintain Apache Tomcat servers in production environments
- Perform Tomcat builds and deployments across multiple environments
- Manage Tomcat upgrades, patching, and configuration changes
- Monitor and maintain Tomcat server health and performance
- Configure Tomcat instances and manage application deployments
- Provide production support and troubleshooting
Deployment & Middleware
- Deploy Tomcat applications on Red Hat OpenShift container platform
- Configure Tomcat environments for high availability
- Support clustered Tomcat environments
- Manage middleware configurations and integrations
Infrastructure & Networking
- Create DNS URLs for Tomcat instances
- Create and manage CNAME records
- Coordinate load balancer requests with network teams
- Configure and maintain load-balanced environments
Automation & Scheduling
- Configure and maintain Chef JSON files
- Create and manage Autosys jobs
- Schedule automated server reboots (weekly and monthly)
- Support automation of deployments and maintenance tasks
Security & Certificates
- Manage certificate creation and installation
- Support Y8 certificate creation for DB2 environments
- Ensure servers are in Break Glass mode before production go-live
- Support vulnerability remediation and security compliance
Troubleshooting & Support
- Troubleshoot Tomcat and application issues
- Perform root cause analysis for production incidents
- Monitor system logs and performance metrics
- Support incident and change management processes
