Google Workspace CloudOps Engineer for Seattle, WA

Job Title: Google Workspace CloudOps Engineer / Collaboration Platform SME

Location: Seattle, WA
Experience Required: 10+ Years
Duration: 12+ Months


Role Summary

We are seeking a senior CloudOps Engineer to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise collaboration platforms, with a strong focus on Google Cloud and Google Workspace. The ideal candidate will lead administration, security, automation, and integration of collaboration tools supporting a global workforce, while driving platform reliability, security, and user experience.


Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration & Architecture

  • Act as SME and technical owner for the enterprise collaboration suite, including:

    • Google Workspace (Admin Console, Gmail, Drive, Vault, Gemini)

    • Smartsheet

    • Lucidchart

  • Lead day-to-day administration, configuration, maintenance, and architectural design of collaboration platforms.

  • Design and execute global rollouts, configuration baselines, and change management processes.


Security, Governance & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce security and governance controls, including:

    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

    • Data residency

    • Conditional access

    • SSO / SAML

    • OAuth integrations

  • Partner closely with Information Security, Compliance, and Identity teams to meet enterprise security standards.


Automation & CloudOps

  • Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions using:

    • Google Apps Script

    • Python

    • PowerShell

    • GAM (Google Apps Manager)

  • Optimize operational efficiency and improve service quality through automation.


Integrations & Migrations

  • Lead integrations between Google Workspace, Smartsheet, Lucidchart, and other enterprise systems.

  • Support and lead data migration initiatives, including migrations from Microsoft 365 to Google Drive.

  • Enable seamless cross-departmental workflows through effective platform integration.


Strategy, Optimization & Innovation

  • Continuously evaluate emerging collaboration technologies and industry trends.

  • Develop strategic roadmaps and recommendations to enhance the digital employee experience.

  • Partner with IT asset management to optimize licensing, control costs, and improve feature adoption through data-driven insights.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in CloudOps / Infrastructure Engineering.

  • Strong expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Extensive hands-on experience as a Google Workspace Administrator.

  • Strong Smartsheet administration background.

  • Experience managing enterprise-scale collaboration environments.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Google Apps Script, Python, PowerShell, GAM).

  • Experience with enterprise security controls and identity integrations.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
