Job Title: Senior API Developer (AWS)
Location: Jersey City, NJ / Dallas, TX / Tampa, FL

Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior API Developer to lead the design, development, and management of secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs using Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will bring deep backend development experience, strong cloud architecture knowledge, and hands-on expertise delivering enterprise-grade APIs in an Agile/SAFe environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable APIs using AWS API Gateway.
Integrate APIs with backend services, SQL and NoSQL databases, and third-party systems.
Utilize core AWS services such as Lambda, S3, Step Functions, DynamoDB, EKS, SNS/Pinpoint for data processing, storage, and orchestration.
Implement API security best practices, including authentication and authorization (OAuth 2.0, JWT) and robust data validation.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CDK, ensuring high availability and resiliency.
Monitor API performance using AWS CloudWatch, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.
Create and maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI to support seamless front-end integration.
Act as a senior technical leader by conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers.
Participate across the full SDLC including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Work within Agile / SAFe methodologies in cross-functional teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
5+ years of strong backend and API development experience.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages:
Python
Node.js
Java
C#
Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services, including:
API Gateway, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, EKS, Step Functions
Strong understanding of API design principles, including:
REST and/or GraphQL
Versioning, error handling, and performance optimization
Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
