Title: OpenShift / Kubernetes Administrator
Location: Raleigh, NC or Phoenix, AZ

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced OpenShift / Kubernetes Administrator with strong hands-on expertise in managing container platforms across pre-production and production environments. The ideal candidate will support application deployments, platform operations, incident management, monitoring, patching, and disaster recovery planning while ensuring high availability and performance of containerized workloads.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide operational support for applications (e.g., Sterling) in pre-prod (via ServiceNow/SNOW tickets) and prod (Change tickets/CTASKs) environments.
• Test connectivity between endpoints and services to validate firewall configurations (manual & automated validation).
• Scale pods, deployments, and other workloads as required in both environments.
• Manage and update Kubernetes/OpenShift objects such as:
• ConfigMaps
• Secrets
• Routes
• Services
• Ingress configurations
• Perform logging and monitoring activities; extract logs manually when not available via logging tools (e.g., TCP dump).
• Monitor warnings and alerts on container platforms and create/manage incidents in ServiceNow.
• Renew and manage SSL certificates (Ingress, Route, Wildcard certs) manually or via automation.
• Support container platform patching and upgrades (manual & automated processes).
• Validate applications after application-level or infrastructure-level changes (e.g., patching, F5 changes).
• Act as first responder for incidents; perform data collection, troubleshooting, escalation, and RCA coordination.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, Knowledge Base (KB) articles, and operational documentation.
• Create, update, and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) plans.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 8–10 years of IT experience with strong expertise in:
• Kubernetes
• OpenShift Container Platform
• Hands-on experience with both GUI and CLI commands in OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of container networking, firewall validation, and service connectivity.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, and alert management tools.
• Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate management within container platforms.
• Experience with patching and platform upgrades.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow (SNOW) for incident and change management.
• Strong troubleshooting and production support experience.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
