Azure Cloud Engineer for Falls Church, VA (Hybrid – Remote)

Role: Azure Cloud Engineer
Location : Falls Church, VA (
Hybrid – Remote
)

Duration: 12+ months

 

Key Responsibilities:

Azure Architecture & Implementation:

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available and fault-tolerant Azure solutions
  • Work with core Azure services including:
    • Virtual Machines
    • Azure Active Directory
    • Azure Monitor & Log Analytics
  • Design and support Azure web components:
    • Application Gateway
    • Azure Front Door
    • API Management (APIM)
    • App Services
    • Function Apps
    • Virtual Networks (VNET)

Landing Zone & Environment Management:

  • Design and maintain Azure Landing Zones
  • Manage Dev, QA, and Production environments
  • Ensure environments are secure, compliant, and well-governed

Automation & DevOps:

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Automate infrastructure using IaC tools:
    • Terraform
    • ARM Templates
    • Bicep
  • Apply Git-based version control best practices

Cloud Migration & Operations:

  • Lead and support on-premise to Azure migration initiatives
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and application issues
  • Integrate monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability

Data, AI & Advanced Services:

  • Support setup and integration of:
    • Microsoft Fabric
    • Azure Data Lake
    • SQL Server
  • Assist in setting up Azure AI Foundry for future AI-driven use cases

Security, Compliance & Cost Management:

  • Implement network security, IAM, and data governance best practices
  • Ensure adherence to industry security standards
  • Analyze and forecast Azure costs for:
    • 1-year
    • 3-year
    • 5-year commitment periods
  • Identify cost-optimization and savings opportunities

Collaboration & Vendor Coordination:

  • Coordinate with Microsoft and third-party vendors for support and issue resolution
  • Work closely with onsite and offshore teams
  • Provide after-hours support when required for offshore coordination

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS & PaaS)
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • Azure App Gateway, Front Door, APIM
    • App Services & Function Apps
    • VNETs & Landing Zones
    • Microsoft Fabric, Data Lake, SQL Server
    • Azure AI Foundry
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads
  • Strong Git version control experience

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, etc.)
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and Azure Arc
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies
