Location: Seattle, WA / Dallas-Plano, TX / St. Louis, MO / Charleston, SC / Ridley Park, PA (100% Onsite)

Employment Type: W2 Only

Security Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen (ITAR Compliance Required)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MQ / MQIPT Support Administrator to support and maintain enterprise messaging infrastructure environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ), MQ Internet Pass-Thru (MQIPT), Linux administration, certificate management, and production support operations.

This role involves installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, security administration, certificate management, documentation, and on-call support for mission-critical messaging systems supporting enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

IBM MQ & MQIPT Administration

  • Install, configure, administer, upgrade, and support IBM MQ and MQIPT environments.
  • Perform MQ queue manager deployments, migrations, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.
  • Manage enterprise messaging infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Monitor MQ environments and proactively address operational issues.

MQIPT Management

  • Configure and maintain MQIPT gateways and secure messaging channels.
  • Troubleshoot MQIPT connectivity, routing, and communication issues.
  • Support secure message transmission across enterprise networks.

Certificate & Security Management

  • Manage, renew, install, and troubleshoot X.509 certificates.
  • Implement and maintain MQ and MQIPT security standards.
  • Ensure secure communication channels and compliance with security policies.
  • Support SSL/TLS configuration and certificate lifecycle management.

Linux Administration & Scripting

  • Perform Linux system administration tasks supporting MQ infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Support troubleshooting and performance tuning activities.
  • Utilize Perl scripting where applicable.

Upgrade, Deployment & Maintenance

  • Evaluate and test new IBM MQ and MQIPT versions and patches.
  • Create, validate, and deploy installation packages.
  • Support infrastructure modernization and migration initiatives.
  • Execute environment upgrades while minimizing operational impact.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Provide production support and on-call coverage.
  • Troubleshoot complex MQ, MQIPT, Linux, and certificate-related issues.
  • Open and manage IBM support tickets for product-related issues.
  • Work directly with IBM support teams to resolve critical incidents.

Backup & Recovery

  • Establish and maintain MQ backup and recovery procedures.
  • Validate recovery processes and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Ensure business continuity requirements are met.

Documentation & Governance

  • Create and maintain:
    • Technical Documentation
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Knowledge Base Articles
    • Support Runbooks
  • Maintain compliance with enterprise standards and ITIL processes.

Agile & Operational Excellence

  • Follow SAFe Agile methodologies and Azure DevOps (ADO) processes.
  • Adhere to ticketing SLAs and operational governance requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and best practice development.
  • Mentor team members and provide technical guidance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of IBM MQ Administration experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MQIPT administration and support.
  • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting IBM MQ environments.
  • Strong knowledge of X.509 Certificates and SSL/TLS security.
  • Linux Administration experience.
  • Linux Shell Scripting expertise.
  • Experience working with IBM Support for issue resolution.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and ticketing systems.
  • Ability to participate in on-call support rotations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Perl scripting experience.
  • C programming experience.
  • Experience in large enterprise messaging environments.
  • Knowledge of automation and infrastructure scripting.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated environments.
