Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Application Engineer to support the development of safety-critical embedded software systems for aerospace and avionics applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Embedded C programming, RTOS-based systems, and DO-178C compliant software development within highly regulated aerospace, defense, or mission-critical environments.
The engineer will be responsible for software design, development, integration, verification, debugging, and lifecycle documentation while ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and certification requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain embedded software applications using Embedded C.
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for safety-critical systems.
- Analyze, interpret, and implement software requirements.
- Support software architecture, design, coding, integration, verification, and validation activities.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and defect resolution.
- Develop and execute software test procedures and verification plans.
- Maintain requirements traceability and technical documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, peer reviews, and compliance audits.
- Collaborate with systems, integration, testing, and engineering teams to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
- Support software integration involving avionics communication protocols and embedded interfaces.
- Contribute to process improvements for software development and verification activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 7+ years of embedded software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Embedded C programming.
- Experience developing software in RTOS environments.
- Prior experience in Aerospace, Avionics, Defense, or Safety-Critical Systems.
- Hands-on experience working within DO-178C software development environments.
- Strong understanding of software requirements, design, coding, integration, verification, validation, and testing.
- Experience supporting mission-critical or safety-critical software applications.
- Experience with requirements traceability and lifecycle documentation.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in real-time embedded systems.
- Experience with version control systems and software development tools.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DO-178C DAL A programs.
- Knowledge of FAA certification processes.
- Experience with DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
- Experience with avionics communication protocols such as ARINC 429.
- Experience supporting compliance audits, certification activities, and regulatory reviews.
- Familiarity with Git, Lauterbach Trace32, ARM Development Tools, and MS Visio.
