Duration: 12+ Months (Extension Possible)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Application Engineer to support the development of safety-critical embedded software systems for aerospace and avionics applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Embedded C programming, RTOS-based systems, and DO-178C compliant software development within highly regulated aerospace, defense, or mission-critical environments.

The engineer will be responsible for software design, development, integration, verification, debugging, and lifecycle documentation while ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and certification requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain embedded software applications using Embedded C.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for safety-critical systems.
  • Analyze, interpret, and implement software requirements.
  • Support software architecture, design, coding, integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Perform debugging, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and defect resolution.
  • Develop and execute software test procedures and verification plans.
  • Maintain requirements traceability and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, peer reviews, and compliance audits.
  • Collaborate with systems, integration, testing, and engineering teams to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Support software integration involving avionics communication protocols and embedded interfaces.
  • Contribute to process improvements for software development and verification activities.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Embedded C programming.
  • Experience developing software in RTOS environments.
  • Prior experience in Aerospace, Avionics, Defense, or Safety-Critical Systems.
  • Hands-on experience working within DO-178C software development environments.
  • Strong understanding of software requirements, design, coding, integration, verification, validation, and testing.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or safety-critical software applications.
  • Experience with requirements traceability and lifecycle documentation.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience with version control systems and software development tools.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DO-178C DAL A programs.
  • Knowledge of FAA certification processes.
  • Experience with DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
  • Experience with avionics communication protocols such as ARINC 429.
  • Experience supporting compliance audits, certification activities, and regulatory reviews.
  • Familiarity with Git, Lauterbach Trace32, ARM Development Tools, and MS Visio.
