Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Kafka Administrator with strong expertise in automation and large scale distributed systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, securing, and scaling high availability Kafka clusters across on premise and cloud environments. This role emphasizes automation using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and GitOps to minimize manual operational tasks while ensuring reliable and secure Kafka infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

1. Kafka Automation and Infrastructure as Code
   Design and implement automation frameworks using Ansible playbooks and Python scripts to automate Kafka installation, broker configuration, patching, and version upgrades.
   Implement Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and manage GitOps based deployment pipelines using tools such as ArgoCD or Jenkins.
2. Kafka Cluster Management
   Deploy and manage Confluent Kafka clusters using Confluent for Kubernetes (CFK) on Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
   Manage Kafka KRaft mode architecture, topics, partitions, and replication factors to ensure high availability and optimal system performance.
3. Monitoring and Performance Optimization
   Implement proactive monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, JMX, and Confluent Control Center.
   Monitor broker health, consumer lag, and producer latency while identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
4. Security and Compliance
   Implement and automate Kafka security configurations including SASL, SSL, RBAC, ACLs, and certificate management to ensure secure messaging infrastructure.
5. Kafka Connect and Data Integration
   Configure and manage Kafka Connect infrastructure and automate connector deployments including integrations with platforms such as S3, JDBC, and Snowflake.
   Manage data governance and schema evolution using Confluent Schema Registry.
6. Disaster Recovery and High Availability
   Design and implement disaster recovery strategies including Active Passive cluster configurations and Cluster Linking for multi region replication.
7. Operational Excellence
   Ensure Kafka platform stability, scalability, and performance while continuously improving operational efficiency through automation and infrastructure optimization.

Required Technical Skills

1. Kafka Administration
   Minimum 10 years of experience working with Apache Kafka or Confluent Kafka administration in enterprise environments.
2. Automation and Scripting
   Strong experience with automation tools including Ansible, Terraform, GitOps frameworks, Shell scripting, and Python.
3. Container and Infrastructure Platforms
   Hands on experience working with Kubernetes or OpenShift environments and Linux based infrastructure.
4. Monitoring and Observability
   Experience implementing monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and JMX for Kafka ecosystem performance monitoring.
5. Networking and Security
   Strong understanding of secure network communication and authentication mechanisms including TLS, Kerberos, SASL, RBAC, and ACL based security models.
6. Independent Leadership
   Ability to work independently as a lead Kafka administrator responsible for automation driven platform management.

Essential Skills

1. Kafka cluster deployment and administration using Confluent Kafka platform.
2. Infrastructure automation using Ansible and Terraform.
3. Kafka platform deployment on Kubernetes using Confluent for Kubernetes.
4. Performance monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana.
5. Network performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Experience Required

1. 6 to 8 years of experience in enterprise Kafka platform administration and distributed data streaming environments.
2. Strong hands on experience managing production scale Kafka environments with automation driven infrastructure.
