Job Title: Golang Architect
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Golang Architect to serve as a senior individual contributor with full ownership of end-to-end technical delivery. This role involves designing and building scalable, cloud-native systems while driving architecture, governance, and engineering excellence across backend and frontend platforms.
You will collaborate closely with Staff Architects and senior stakeholders to translate strategic roadmaps into execution plans, ensuring delivery of high-quality, resilient, and observable systems.
Key Responsibilities
Backend Architecture & Development
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Golang (idiomatic Go).
- Build distributed systems with strong focus on performance, scalability, and resiliency.
- Implement integrations with CI/CD and platform tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, XLR).
- Apply policy enforcement using OPA (Open Policy Agent) across audit, warn, enforce, and gate phases.
Frontend Architecture & Development
- Lead frontend architecture using React.
- Develop and maintain OneApp-based applications (preferred).
- Ensure seamless integration and contract alignment between frontend and backend systems.
Cloud-Native & DevOps
- Architect and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and related tools.
- Establish best practices for deployment, scaling, and operational efficiency.
Data Modeling & System Design
- Define scalable and secure data models, schemas, and storage solutions.
- Design efficient data flow patterns for high-throughput and low-latency systems.
End-to-End Ownership
- Own full lifecycle delivery: POC → MVP → GA → post-GA enhancements.
- Ensure alignment with both functional and non-functional requirements (NFRs) including latency, throughput, resiliency, and security posture.
Quality, Performance & Resiliency
- Define and enforce QA strategies, automated testing, and regression testing.
- Lead performance and load testing initiatives.
- Drive improvements in system stability, fault tolerance, and resiliency.
Observability & Operations
- Implement observability frameworks (O11Y) including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Ensure systems meet SLOs (Service Level Objectives) and operational standards.
Architecture & Governance
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams and ADRs (Architecture Decision Records).
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks.
- Participate in and influence technical governance forums.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to Engineer II and Engineer III team members.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point, resolving complex challenges.
- Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and provide trade-off analysis.
- Translate architectural vision into clear execution strategies for teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Staff Architects and business stakeholders to align delivery with strategic goals.
- Communicate effectively through technical documentation, diagrams, and presentations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Deep expertise in Golang (Go) and distributed systems.
- Strong experience with cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience designing systems with strong NFR considerations (latency, throughput, resiliency, security).
- Expertise in testing, observability, and production operations.
- Proven track record of leading end-to-end delivery of large-scale systems.
- Strong communication skills with ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Open Policy Agent (OPA) for policy enforcement.
- Experience with React and modern frontend frameworks.
- Familiarity with OneApp architecture.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale environments.
