Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Linux Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize enterprise Linux environments across multiple distributions.
This role requires deep expertise in system administration, virtualization, networking, storage, automation, monitoring, and regulatory compliance within production environments.
Core Responsibilities
System Administration & Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers across:
- RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE
- Manage physical and virtual environments (VMware).
- Perform patching, upgrades, and security hardening (CIS/STIG standards).
- Configure system services (systemd, init.d).
- Manage user accounts, access control, and sudo policies.
- Configure kernel tuning and system performance optimization.
- Manage filesystems, LVM, partitioning, and disk optimization.
Server Deployment & Lifecycle Management
- Provision servers using automation tools (Kickstart/Preseed).
- Manage full server lifecycle (provisioning → decommissioning).
- Implement failover and load balancing mechanisms.
- Optimize virtual environments and hypervisors.
Networking & Security Configuration
- Configure network interfaces, VLANs, routing, bonding/teaming.
- Manage firewalls (iptables, firewalld, nftables).
- Configure VPN solutions (OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard).
- Implement SELinux/AppArmor security policies.
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates and secure communications.
- Configure authentication integrations (LDAP, AD, Kerberos).
- Implement SSH key management and secure remote access.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and manage IDS/IPS solutions.
Storage & Backup Management
- Configure NFS, CIFS/Samba, iSCSI storage solutions.
- Implement RAID and redundancy strategies.
- Manage LVM and filesystem optimization.
- Design backup & disaster recovery strategies.
- Maintain backup tools (rsync, Bacula, Amanda, Veeam, Commvault).
- Conduct backup validation and DR drills.
Monitoring & Observability
- Implement monitoring using tools such as Datadog.
- Configure centralized logging (ELK, Splunk, rsyslog).
- Monitor CPU, memory, disk I/O, and network performance.
- Perform capacity planning based on growth trends.
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system anomalies.
Automation & Scripting
- Develop scripts using Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Automate provisioning, monitoring, and backup processes.
- Build health-check and performance utilities.
Web, Application & Database Support
- Configure web servers (Apache, Nginx).
- Manage application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic).
- Support reverse proxy and SSL termination.
- Install and maintain database servers (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
- Support database replication and high availability configurations.
Troubleshooting & Incident Response
- Diagnose kernel panics, boot failures, hardware issues.
- Perform root cause analysis using system logs.
- Respond to incidents and service requests.
- Escalate complex issues as required.
- Maintain documentation of procedures and resolutions.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce CIS benchmarks and STIG standards.
- Ensure compliance with:
- PCI-DSS
- HIPAA
- SOC 2
- Implement file integrity monitoring (AIDE, Tripwire).
- Maintain audit logging and security reporting.
