Description:
We are seeking an experienced API Architect / API Design Lead to design, standardize, and govern enterprise-grade APIs. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in REST, gRPC, and event-driven architectures, along with strong experience in API governance, developer experience, and lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
1. API Design & Architecture
- Design RESTful, gRPC, and event-driven APIs using industry best practices
- Define API contracts and specifications using OpenAPI/Swagger, AsyncAPI, or RAML
- Ensure scalability, security, and performance of APIs
2. Documentation & Developer Experience
- Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation and usage guides
- Improve developer experience through versioning, error handling, and discoverability
- Build mock servers and prototypes for early validation
3. API Governance & Standards
- Define and enforce API design standards and style guides
- Establish governance frameworks for API lifecycle management
- Ensure consistency across enterprise API implementations
4. Collaboration & Requirement Analysis
- Work with product managers, architects, and engineering teams
- Translate business requirements into API specifications
5. API Lifecycle Management
- Manage API lifecycle including versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility
- Ensure seamless integration and maintainability
6. Quality & Performance
- Collaborate with QA teams for API testing and validation
- Ensure APIs meet performance, security, and reliability standards
7. Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with latest API technologies and trends
- Drive innovation and improvements in API design practices
