Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Application Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and IMS, responsible for maintaining and enhancing enterprise mainframe systems.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in legacy application analysis, batch job troubleshooting, performance tuning, and integration between mainframe and distributed systems.
Retail domain knowledge is a plus.
Core Responsibilities
Application Development & Enhancement
· Design and develop COBOL-based application solutions.
· Implement CICS online components and IMS transactions.
· Develop and maintain DB2 database programs.
· Write and optimize JCL for batch processing.
· Deliver high-quality, maintainable code.
Legacy Code Analysis
· Analyze legacy mainframe applications.
· Document business logic and program functionality.
· Support modernization and integration efforts.
Batch Processing & JCL Troubleshooting
· Triage and resolve JCL batch job failures.
· Investigate performance issues in batch and online processing.
· Tune DB2 queries and application performance.
Integration & Enterprise Support
· Support integration between mainframe and enterprise applications.
· Work with MS SQL Server and related distributed database systems.
· Troubleshoot cross-platform data and application issues.
Production Support & Issue Resolution
· Analyze and resolve COBOL-related production issues.
· Perform root cause analysis and performance tuning.
· Support high-availability enterprise environments.
Required Skills
· 10+ years overall mainframe development experience
· 8+ years hands-on experience with:
o COBOL
o CICS
o JCL
o DB2
· Experience with IMS
· Experience in MS SQL Server-related database products
· Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
· Experience analyzing and documenting legacy code
Nice to Have
· Retail industry experience
· Experience integrating mainframe with distributed systems
· Experience in modernization initiatives
