Role: Network Architect
Location: 3275 Bennett Creek Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701 (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)
Duration: 12+ Months
Description:
We are seeking an experienced Network Architect to lead enterprise network transformation initiatives, including data center modernization, WAN optimization, cloud connectivity, and security architecture. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in designing scalable, resilient, and secure enterprise network infrastructures with a strong background in network architecture, Zero Trust security, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud networking.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Network Architecture
- Lead the design and migration from 2-tier to 3-tier (Core / Distribution / Access) network architecture.
- Define and execute a future-state enterprise network architecture roadmap aligned with business growth and scalability.
- Develop and maintain High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
- Architect and implement network segmentation strategies including VLANs, VRFs, and security zoning.
- Define Layer 2 and Layer 3 topology, routing boundaries, and failover domains.
Data Center & Infrastructure
- Design and deploy colocation (Co-Lo) data center network infrastructure with high availability and redundancy.
- Plan and execute data center migration initiatives, including workload placement and transition strategies.
- Redesign access and distribution layer networks for scalability, segmentation, and resilience.
- Optimize server access and fabric extender architecture for performance and availability.
Security Architecture
- Architect East-West and North-South traffic controls using Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Implement Zero Trust security principles with identity-based access controls (ClearPass integration).
- Develop and enforce zone-based firewall policies across:
- Edge networks
- Data center environments
- DMZ infrastructure
WAN & SD-WAN Architecture
- Design and optimize hybrid WAN architecture using:
- MPLS
- Internet circuits
- SD-WAN
- Lead VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN deployments, including:
- Application-aware routing
- Traffic engineering
- Policy-based routing design
- Architect resilient WAN edge and branch connectivity solutions.
Cloud Networking (Azure)
- Design and implement Azure hybrid connectivity using ExpressRoute with BGP routing and redundancy.
- Develop hub-and-spoke Azure network architecture integrated with on-prem infrastructure.
- Ensure secure and optimized traffic flow between cloud and on-prem environments.
Load Balancing & Application Delivery
- Design and optimize F5 LTM load balancing solutions.
- Implement:
- High availability configurations
- SSL offloading
- Secure application delivery architecture
- Align application delivery with segmented and secure network design.
Wireless & Infrastructure Management
- Integrate and manage Aruba Central wireless infrastructure in enterprise environments.
- Support network access control integrations with Aruba ClearPass.
Network Automation & Monitoring
- Drive automation initiatives using:
- Ansible
- Python
- NetBrain
- Implement observability, telemetry, and proactive monitoring frameworks.
- Establish automation-first practices for deployment, configuration, and operations.
High Availability / Disaster Recovery
- Architect HA solutions across enterprise and colocation environments.
- Design and validate disaster recovery (DR) strategies and failover mechanisms.
- Develop resiliency testing and DR execution procedures for mission-critical systems.
