Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong API and Azure experience to join the Cloud Data Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in building and supporting APIs, engineering scalable data pipelines, and migrating enterprise data platforms to the cloud using Microsoft Azure PaaS technologies.
This role requires a data-first mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across business and IT teams to design high-quality, scalable solutions.
Core Competencies
· 10+ years in Java API Management & Microservices
· Strong experience in API development and support
· Azure Functions (Python-based)
· Data Engineering in large-scale, complex data environments
· Cloud-based data platform migrations
Technical Skills
Data Engineering & SQL
· 3+ years of data engineering experience
· Strong experience writing and tuning complex SQL queries
· Azure SQL experience
· Experience analyzing results and recommending improvements
· Full lifecycle development and end-to-end testing
Cloud & Azure Technologies
· Microsoft Azure platform expertise including:
o Azure Functions (Python)
o Azure Databricks
o Event Hub
o Data Factory
o Synapse Analytics
o Delta Lake
o Cosmos DB
· Experience with Scala (preferred)
· Familiarity with AWS or other public cloud platforms (preferred)
API & Microservices
· API development and support
· Experience debugging multi-threaded applications
· Microservices-based architecture
· DevOps tools such as Git and Jenkins
· Configuration management and build automation
Key Responsibilities
· Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Azure PaaS technologies.
· Migrate existing enterprise data platforms to cloud-based architectures.
· Build and maintain APIs and Azure Functions supporting data workflows.
· Gather requirements, evaluate technical effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
· Perform end-to-end testing and validation of solutions.
· Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex data and integration issues.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Big Data solutions and NoSQL databases
· Experience leading large-scale technical initiatives
· Agile methodology experience
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Professional Skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and in team-oriented environments
· Ability to represent department as SME on complex assignments
