Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong expertise in Investment Management, Asset Management, Capital Markets, Data Analysis, and SQL to support a global financial services environment.
This role sits at the intersection of business, technology, and data, enabling data-driven decision making and supporting critical investment management platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep financial domain knowledge, strong analytical capabilities, excellent stakeholder management skills, and hands-on experience investigating, analyzing, and resolving complex production data issues.
The successful candidate will work closely with Front Office, Portfolio Management, Risk, Operations, Data Engineering, and Technology teams to ensure accurate, reliable, and scalable delivery of enterprise data products.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Stakeholder Management
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements from investment and asset management stakeholders.
- Translate complex business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
- Conduct process analysis, workflow design, and business process optimization initiatives.
- Facilitate discussions between business users and technology teams to ensure alignment of solutions with business objectives.
- Develop BRDs, FRDs, user stories, use cases, process flows, data mappings, and acceptance criteria.
- Communicate complex business and data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Investment Management & Capital Markets
- Support investment management, portfolio management, trading, risk, and operations platforms.
- Work with financial products including:
- Equities
- Fixed Income
- Derivatives
- Alternative Investments
- Understand investment lifecycle processes from trade capture through settlement and reporting.
- Analyze portfolio performance, asset allocation, valuation methodologies, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Collaborate with Front Office, Risk, Operations, and Compliance teams.
Data Analysis & Data Management
- Own end-to-end delivery and support of financial data products.
- Perform source-to-target mapping and data lineage analysis.
- Analyze data transformations, enrichment processes, and reconciliation procedures.
- Investigate production data issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Validate data quality, completeness, accuracy, and consistency across systems.
- Develop data validation and control frameworks.
- Support historical and "as-of" data processing requirements.
SQL & Technical Analysis
- Write, review, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries.
- Perform detailed data analysis and validation using SQL.
- Analyze relational data models and enterprise databases.
- Read and interpret existing SQL, Python, and Java code to understand business logic and technical implementations.
- Work closely with development and data engineering teams to validate solutions and ensure business alignment.
- Support system integrations, data flows, and enterprise application architectures.
Agile Delivery & Production Support
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including:
- Sprint Planning
- Backlog Refinement
- Daily Standups
- Sprint Reviews
- Retrospectives
- Define acceptance criteria and support UAT activities.
- Manage BAU production support activities.
- Take ownership of critical production incidents from investigation through resolution.
- Support release planning and production readiness activities.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency improvements.
- Improve controls, governance, documentation, and operational processes.
- Support data governance, auditability, traceability, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement best practices for data quality and operational resilience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
- 8-10+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or Data Analyst.
- Strong Investment Management or Asset Management industry experience.
- Experience supporting trading, portfolio management, risk, operations, or regulatory reporting platforms.
- Strong understanding of Capital Markets and investment lifecycle processes.
- CFA Charterholder or CFA Candidate (Preferred).
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
