Job Title: Mortgage Data Architect (MISMO & Snowflake)

Location: Westlake Village, CA / Carrollton, TX / Cary, NC

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Mortgage Domain SME with deep expertise in mortgage servicing, underwriting, mortgage data architecture, MISMO standards, Snowflake, and enterprise data modeling. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders, data teams, and analytics organizations to design scalable mortgage data solutions that support reporting, risk management, regulatory compliance, and advanced analytics initiatives.

The candidate should possess extensive knowledge of the complete mortgage loan lifecycle, strong hands-on experience with MISMO data standards, advanced SQL expertise, and the ability to build enterprise-grade analytical data models within Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities

Mortgage Domain & Data Analysis

  • Analyze mortgage data across the complete loan lifecycle, including origination, processing, underwriting, closing, servicing, default management, and secondary market activities.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for mortgage business processes, data structures, and industry standards.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define mortgage data requirements, reporting needs, and analytical use cases.
  • Interpret mortgage regulatory requirements and ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards.

MISMO Data Standards & Integration

  • Lead enterprise adoption and alignment of mortgage data to MISMO standards and industry best practices.
  • Define, develop, and maintain mappings between mortgage source systems and MISMO-compliant data structures.
  • Translate complex MISMO XML and JSON schemas into scalable relational and analytical data models.
  • Ensure consistency and standardization across LOS, servicing, credit, investor, and third-party mortgage platforms.

Data Modeling & Architecture

  • Design and maintain enterprise-scale dimensional and analytical data models using star schema and snowflake schema methodologies.
  • Develop logical, conceptual, and physical data models supporting mortgage analytics and reporting initiatives.
  • Create scalable mortgage data architectures supporting large-scale data warehousing and business intelligence environments.
  • Collaborate with data architects and engineering teams to establish modeling standards and best practices.

Snowflake Data Platform

  • Design and optimize data models within Snowflake environments.
  • Leverage Snowflake capabilities including:
    • Clustering Keys
    • Secure Views
    • Materialized Views
    • Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
    • Data Sharing
    • Performance Optimization
  • Support large-scale mortgage analytics workloads and enterprise reporting requirements.
  • Optimize storage, compute utilization, and query performance.

SQL Development & Performance Tuning

  • Develop advanced SQL queries, procedures, and analytical datasets for large mortgage portfolios.
  • Perform query optimization and tuning to improve performance and scalability.
  • Build reusable data transformation and aggregation logic supporting business reporting and analytics.
  • Review and validate SQL code to ensure quality, maintainability, and compliance with standards.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Define and implement mortgage-specific data quality controls and validation frameworks.
  • Monitor and resolve data quality issues across mortgage source systems and reporting environments.
  • Establish governance controls aligned with:
    • MISMO Standards
    • Investor Requirements
    • Regulatory Guidelines
    • Internal Data Governance Policies
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory reporting initiatives.

Mortgage Analytics & Risk Support

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and portfolio risks.
  • Develop and maintain mortgage-specific business metrics including:
    • Loan-to-Value (LTV)
    • Debt-to-Income (DTI)
    • Delinquency Indicators
    • Prepayment Metrics
    • Default Risk Indicators
    • Portfolio Performance Measures
  • Support credit risk, portfolio analytics, prepayment modeling, and performance forecasting initiatives.
  • Validate analytical datasets used in risk and predictive modeling environments.

Documentation & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Document data models, mappings, data lineage, business definitions, and transformation logic.
  • Create technical and business documentation supporting governance, compliance, and operational support.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, risk teams, servicing teams, and underwriting stakeholders.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical and business leadership.
