Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Appian Solution Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade Business Process Management (BPM) solutions using the Appian platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience architecting scalable, secure, and high-performance Appian applications while providing technical leadership across process automation initiatives.

The role requires strong expertise in Appian architecture, process modeling, integrations, data strategy, security governance, performance optimization, and CI/CD implementation. The candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders, development teams, and enterprise architects to deliver innovative low-code solutions aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Appian Architecture & Solution Design

• Define and own end-to-end Appian solution architecture, including process models, data models, integrations, security frameworks, and deployment strategies.
• Design scalable, resilient, and high-performing BPM applications aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Lead architecture reviews and ensure compliance with Appian best practices and governance standards.
• Develop reusable frameworks, accelerators, templates, and contribute to Appian Center of Excellence (CoE) assets.
• Create architecture blueprints, solution designs, technical roadmaps, and governance documentation.

Application Development & Technical Leadership

• Provide hands-on leadership in Appian development including:
• SAIL Interface Design
• Process Models
• Records and Record Types
• CDTs (Custom Data Types)
• Expression Rules
• Integrations
• Appian Data Fabric
• Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards and best practices.
• Mentor development teams on Appian low-code development methodologies.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide teams in performance tuning and debugging.

Integration & Automation

• Architect and implement integrations with enterprise applications using:
• REST APIs
• SOAP Web Services
• Kafka
• IBM MQ
• Third-Party Systems
• Design automation solutions leveraging AI, RPA, and workflow orchestration technologies.
• Ensure reliable and scalable integration patterns across enterprise platforms.

Data Architecture & Performance Optimization

• Design enterprise data strategies utilizing Appian Data Fabric and external databases.
• Work extensively with:
• Oracle Database
• SQL Server
• PostgreSQL
• Optimize application performance across:
• Process Execution
• UI Rendering
• Database Queries
• Integrations
• Implement performance best practices including:
• Caching Strategies
• Indexing
• Asynchronous Processing
• Scalability Enhancements

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Design and enforce application security frameworks.
• Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and data protection mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with:
• SOX
• GDPR
• HIPAA
• Establish governance standards for Appian application development and deployment.

DevOps & Release Management

• Establish and manage CI/CD pipelines for Appian applications.
• Automate testing, deployments, and release processes.
• Manage development, QA, UAT, and production environments.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and operational excellence.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead technical workshops and architecture discussions.
• Provide strategic guidance on Appian adoption and BPM transformation initiatives.
• Deliver integration strategies, optimization reports, governance reports, and technical recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of IT experience with strong expertise in BPM and workflow automation.
• 5+ years of hands-on Appian development and architecture experience.
• Strong experience designing enterprise-scale Appian applications.
• Expertise in:
• Appian SAIL
• Process Models
• Records
• Expression Rules
• CDTs
• Appian Data Fabric
• Experience integrating Appian with enterprise systems using REST and SOAP APIs.
• Strong understanding of BPM concepts, workflow automation, and business process optimization.
• Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka and MQ.
• Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Experience implementing security frameworks and compliance controls.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI-enabled workflow automation and RPA platforms.
• Exposure to TCS BaNCS platform integrations.
• Knowledge of Oracle Database Administration concepts.
• Experience working within enterprise Appian Centers of Excellence (CoE).
• Appian Certified Lead Developer or Appian Certified Architect credentials preferred.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
