Job Description: Senior Java Full Stack Developer (Chicago – Local Only)

Location: Chicago, IL (Local candidates only)

Role Type: Contract / Full-time (as applicable)

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer to design, develop, and deliver scalable, cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Azure cloud technologies, with a solid understanding of secure software development practices and Agile methodologies.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Design and develop software components based on screen design documents and technical architecture guidelines.

Ensure code quality by following coding standards and performing appropriate testing for the platform.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the development team.

Own application design and code delivery as per business and technical requirements.

Communicate project status clearly (written and verbal) to stakeholders and management.

Continuously improve application stability, scalability, performance, and user experience.

Address application architecture, security concerns, and technical risk mitigation.

Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and SDLC processes.

Knowledge & Skills

Strong experience with Agile methodology and Cloud-Native Development (Azure preferred).

Hands-on knowledge of Java, UI frameworks, and application servers.

Solid understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Experience with Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC).

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Delivery-focused mindset with a positive and collaborative attitude.

Microservices & Web-based application development

Data & Messaging:

JPA / ORM

Kafka, JMS (MQ / Solace)

Redis, NoSQL, SQL databases

Azure SQL / PostgreSQL

Nice to Have

Experience with MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, ReactJS, Node.js).

Strong UI development experience using HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, Bootstrap, ReactJS.

Financial domain experience.

Strong understanding of Messaging and Event-Driven Architecture.

Leadership and mentoring experience.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

9+ years of overall industry experience.

Proven experience in Agile development environments.

Hands-on experience as a Senior Java Developer.
