Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong expertise in Commercial and Specialty Insurance to support business transformation initiatives across underwriting, claims, policy administration, and digital modernization programs. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and drive successful delivery of insurance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders across Commercial, Specialty, and Crop Insurance lines to understand business needs and strategic objectives.
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements.
- Conduct workshops, stakeholder interviews, and requirement elicitation sessions.
- Map current-state and future-state business processes across underwriting, claims, policy administration, and related insurance operations.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend business solutions.
- Support digital transformation, automation, AI-driven initiatives, and modernization programs within the insurance domain.
- Create Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), user stories, process flows, use cases, and gap analyses.
- Collaborate with Agile delivery teams during sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release activities.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), test case reviews, defect management, and business validation.
- Work closely with product owners, developers, QA teams, and business users to ensure successful solution implementation.
- Support change management, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze business impacts, dependencies, and risks associated with project deliverables.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Insurance Domain Expertise
- 6–10 years of Business Analysis experience within Commercial and/or Specialty Insurance.
- Strong knowledge of Commercial Insurance products including:
- General Liability (GL)
- Commercial Property
- Commercial Auto
- Workers Compensation
- Umbrella Insurance
- Strong knowledge of Specialty Insurance products including:
- Directors & Officers (D&O)
- Errors & Omissions (E&O)
- Cyber Insurance
- Professional Liability
Business Analysis Skills
- Requirements Gathering and Analysis
- Business Process Mapping
- Gap Analysis
- Stakeholder Management
- User Story Creation
- Functional Documentation
- UAT Support
- Process Improvement
Agile & Delivery Experience
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Participation in sprint planning, backlog management, story refinement, and release planning.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies.
Insurance Platforms
- Experience with insurance policy administration platforms such as:
- Guidewire
- Duck Creek
- Other equivalent Insurance Core Systems
Professional Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across business and technology teams.
- Strong documentation and facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting digital transformation or automation initiatives.
- Exposure to AI-enabled business process improvements.
- Knowledge of underwriting, claims, policy administration, and insurance operations.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
- Insurance certifications or industry-specific training are a plus.
