Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Governance Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Purview, cloud data services, and enterprise data governance frameworks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience implementing and managing Microsoft Purview in large-scale enterprise environments, along with solid knowledge of Azure, AWS data services, and Python.
This role will focus on enterprise data governance initiatives including metadata management, data cataloging, data lineage, classifications, glossary management, and governance automation across cloud platforms.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview
- Experience implementing and managing:
- Collections
- Scanners
- Metadata Catalog
- Data Classifications
- Business Glossary
- Data Lineage
- Strong understanding of enterprise Data Governance principles
- Experience with:
- Microsoft Azure Data Services
- AWS Data Services
- Python scripting/programming
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
- Knowledge of metadata management and data discovery processes
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise data governance solutions using Microsoft Purview.
- Configure and manage Purview components including collections, scanners, classifications, glossary, metadata catalog, and lineage.
- Develop and maintain enterprise metadata management and data cataloging solutions.
- Integrate Purview with Azure and AWS data platforms.
- Implement data governance standards, policies, and best practices across enterprise environments.
- Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and business teams to improve data discoverability and governance.
- Develop automation scripts and integrations using Python.
- Monitor governance workflows and ensure data quality and compliance standards are met.
- Support enterprise data lineage and data classification initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve governance platform-related issues.
- Create technical documentation and governance process documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in:
- Data Engineering
- Analytics Engineering
- Data Governance
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on production experience with Microsoft Purview.
- Strong experience in Azure and AWS cloud data ecosystems.
- Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in enterprise cloud environments.
- Knowledge of data security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with enterprise data warehousing and analytics platforms.
- Experience with automation and cloud-native governance solutions.
