Key Roles and Responsibilities
ETL Job Development: Design and create DataStage jobs to extract data from sources (e.g., databases, flat files, APIs), transform it according to business rules (e.g., cleaning, aggregating, enriching), and load it into a target data warehouse or data mart.
Performance Tuning: Optimize the performance of ETL jobs to ensure they run efficiently and handle large volumes of data. This includes identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and using parallel processing features.
Data Modeling: Work with data architects and business analysts to understand data models and business requirements. This helps in designing effective data flow and transformation logic.
Documentation and Maintenance: Create and maintain technical documentation for ETL processes, including data flow diagrams, job design specifications, and standard operating procedures. They also provide ongoing support and troubleshoot issues.
Collaboration: Work with various teams, including data architects, database administrators, and business intelligence developers, to ensure a seamless data pipeline from source to end-user.
